Middleway Republishes Two Works by Ikeda

LOS ANGELES, USA: Publisher Middleway Press has re-published two works on Buddhism by Daisaku Ikeda. The first, Buddhism: The First Millennium, examines the factors leading to the emergence of Buddhism as a world religion and its spread from India into Southeast Asia, China, Korea and Japan. The second, The Flower of Chinese Buddhism, is a narrative account of Buddhist missionaries and translators and that of pioneering Buddhist leaders in China, detailing the flowering and eventual decline of Chinese Buddhism.

These two releases by Middleway have been updated with more informative footnotes and glossaries. Buddhism: The First Millennium was released by Kodansha International in 1977 while Weatherhill, Inc. originally published The Flower of Chinese Buddhism in 1986.
