Jao-Ikeda Dialogue Tops Hong Kong Weekly's Bestseller List
HONG KONG, China: The traditional Chinese edition of Bungaku to geijutsu no tabiji (tentative English title "A Journey on the Path of Culture and the Arts") topped the September 6, 2009, issue of Yazhou Zhoukan (Asia Weekly) magazine's bestseller list for the week of August 30-September 5, 2009. In the dialogue, Daisaku Ikeda and Jao Tsung-I discuss an array of topics--from cultural commonalities shared by East Asian countries and personal insights culled from their respective lives to issues confronting youth today--with Sun Lichuan acting as moderator.
Professor Jao is an acclaimed authority on neo-Confucianism, Buddhist studies, linguistics and archaeology, as well as a renowned painter and poet. Professor Sun is deputy editor of Hong Kong publisher Cosmo Books, which first released the work in traditional Chinese for readers in Hong Kong and Taiwan in July 2009. It has subsequently been published in simplified Chinese by Guangxi Normal University for readers in mainland China.
Based in Hong Kong, Yazhou Zhoukan is circulated globally. Its weekly bestseller list ranks the most popular songs and books in Hong Kong, Taipei, Malaysia, Singapore and various cities in China.
