Louis Cha Leung-yung (1924–2018), better known by his pen name Jin Yong, was one of China’s best-selling contemporary novelists with over 100 million books sold worldwide. Jin Yong was born in Haining City, China, on February 6, 1924. He cofounded the Hong Kong daily newspaper, Ming Pao, and was known for his social activism. Many of his works have been translated into Korean, English, Japanese, French, Vietnamese, Malay and Thai.
