A pioneer of cardiovascular medicine and the author of more than 400 scientific and medical publications, Felix Unger (1946–) is one of the world’s foremost heart specialists. He is the inventor of the ellipsoid heart, an artificial heart that enabled him to perform the first clinical artificial heart replacement in Europe. Dr. Unger graduated in 1971 from the University of Vienna and is currently president of both the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and the European Institute of Health.
